About this tool
Length, weight, area and temperature all convert on one screen. Enter a value, pick the unit it is in, and every other unit in that category is worked out at once, so there is no need to step through them one pair at a time.
Units that are still in everyday use in Korea are included. Pyeong remains the unit people actually quote when looking at property, and the geun (600g) and gwan (3.75kg) turn up at butchers and in agricultural trade. One pyeong is calculated as 400/121 ㎡ ≈ 3.3058㎡ — rounding it to 3.3 produces a visible error once the floor area gets large.
Temperature behaves differently from the rest. Length and weight share a zero point, so converting is a single multiplication; Celsius and Fahrenheit put zero in different places, so the conversion has to multiply and then add. That is why temperature cannot be estimated with a simple ratio, and why this tool works from the definition of each scale.
